Raised in Tribute:
$15001.24On Feb 4th, 2019 we bid farewell to our dear mother, Louise Nikravesh. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1998 at the age of 69. She continued to live her life with joy, positivity, and grace for the next 21 years.
Louise was born in Kermanshah, Iran, in 1928. She was married to Saleh Khorramabadi, the love of her life for 56 years until Saleh's passing in 2002. In 1993, the couple permanently moved from Tehran, Iran, to the city of Menlo Park, in California, USA.
In her new hometown, Louise not only continued pursuing her old interests of Persian literature and poetry but also partook in and enjoyed various new community activities such as aqua aerobics, Tai Chi, and meditation. Louise managed to maintain her old friendships from her school days and kept in close touch with her five closest friends. She also forged new close friendships in her new hometown. She handwrote a family cookbook currently used by many family members and friends. From early on, she enjoyed knitting sweaters and outfits for her family members. As Parkinson's disease robbed her of fine motor skills, she coped by proceeding to limit her knitting to small outfits for dolls. She donated about 150 of the outfitted dolls to various children's causes. During her final years, even though she was faced with serious physical and mental challenges, she handled life with grace and without any complaints.
Louise is survived by her five children, Mahnaz Tabibnia, Haideh Khorramabadi, Kamran Abadi, Deljou Abadi, Delnaz Khorramabadi, and her god-daughter Parvin Harooni; four grandchildren, Sam Tabibinia, Golnaz Rauch, Sepideh Hosseini, and Navid Hosseini; and four great grandchildren, Sophia, Aviva, Jonah, and Ada. Her surviving siblings are Pari Rosen, Sori Shelby, and Parviz Nikravesh.
We would like to extend our gratitude to her primary care physician, Dr. Kathleen Kenny, and Parkinson's disease Dr. James Tetrude for providing her with excellent care. Special acknowledgement goes to Louise's grandniece, Neda Saleh, whose Chinese medicine potion kept Louise bedsore-free during the final years of her life. We would also like to thank many unsung heroes who along the way provided assistance and care for our mother.
As a tribute to our mother, a fund is set up in her name via Michael J. Fox Foundation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the fund via this page would be greatly appreciated. The proceeds are targeted towards research in prevention and cure of Parkinson's disease. We would love to have you write a memory regarding Louise in the guest book.
Thank you for your contribution and the memories.
