Raised in Tribute:
$1150.00Carolyn Bartos Alford, 75, earned her wings after after an awe-inspiring two front battle with Parkinson’s and cancer. Small but fierce, her courage will be remembered by the many who were touched by her giving nature. “Sis” grew up in West Point, VA and is now reunited with her husband of 50 years, Richard Alford.
Carolyn’s wit and newspaper clippings will be missed most by her four children and their spouses; Becky and John Young, Suzanne and John Harlow, Emilie and Paul Kiritsis (of Midlothian), and Rick and Lindsay Alford (of Las Vegas). Purple Kool Aid will forever be juice to her cherished grandchildren; Kathryn Young and Reid Kiritsis, both students at Washington & Lee, and Amelia and Olivia Alford, second graders in Las Vegas. Life will never be as complete without her chicken dip, oatmeal cookies, and routinely gathering at her table.
Sis’s surviving brothers and sister-in-law; Joe, Tim and Sandy Bartos, will miss touching base with her at 4:30 am, knowing she would be up reading every word of her papers. Carolyn will be waiting for her most precious ally, Sandra Springborn, as their Lucy and Ethel antics will be on hold until they are reunited in Heaven.
Her friends were more sisters than neighbors or bridge mates, and the lives of countless children were made more fun by her Big Wheels and cheese toast. Carolyn is resting at Bliley’s on Augusta and arrangements will be made at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to help end the heartbreaking impact that Parkinson's has on families and a glass of Jack and ginger be raised in her honor.
