Robert was diagnosed with Parkinson in 2006 just a week before we could set sail on Norwegian Dawn to West Caribbean. We made a promise to each other to go on the cruise, enjoy ourselves and deal with Parkinson once we got back. Rob as he was known to all, loved to travel to see the world and never ever wanted to visit the same place twice as he said "there was plenty more to see". His zeal for living life to the fullest was admired by all. He was very intelligent, could talk on any subject and loved his stock market!
Parkinson never stopped us from doing what we wanted to, till it became very difficult to control the illness. It was only four years before he passed on 11-11-2016 that we stopped travelling and that was his killer. He loved to drive and when he knew it wouldn't be safe for him or others, he stopped driving. We tried everything - different medications, therapy etc. but his last year between hospitals and nursing homes, he had no will to live. It was so difficult to see a man who had a zest for life, loved entertaining, always surrounded by friends was giving up. He lost his appetite and his weakness was good food and was always ready to try anything new!
Rob loved family especially his wife and two daughters - Tamara and Jessica and would do anything to make them happy. He taught them to believe in themselves and take up careers not for money but happiness, so that they could get up in the morning and want to go to work.
Parkinson took away all his pleasures and it was his desire that there should be a light at the end of the tunnel - I hope and pray that MJF foundation could find a cure for this disease! His wish to donate to MFF was that they find a cure for Parkinson.
I miss you so much Rob. Beulah
