Raised in Tribute:
$100.00Donita was diagnosed with Parkinson's 27 years ago. She passed away after a valiant battle Tuesday, September 27, 2018.
I try not to morn my sister's death. I choose instead to live daily in honor of the life she lived. She always awoke & hit the floor running at full of any pain or discomfort she was feeling due to her Parkinson's. She chose to face life head on & never let any one or any thing get in her way. She accomplished more from her wheelchair than most people accomplish in a life time. She never gave up & faced insurmountable adversities with strength & courage. She hated no one and loved everyone. She had so much love in her heart. I miss hearing her voice. I miss trying to keep up with her as she went about her day. She was my mentor, my friend, my hero. As sister's do, we fought, we cried, & we laughed together.
Donita was always doing for others, opening her heart & her home to whomever was in need. She set the bar high for herself & encouraging me to try to vault over it. I have difficulty imagining life without her. She influenced me more than any other person who has crossed my path. Parkinson's may have claimed her life; it could not claim her legacy.
I would give anything to have one more opportunity to yell out to her, "Be careful, Sis." It was a privilege to be her sister. I bid you good night, sis. Lay down your head and rest.
